Salim personally designed the X-Prize winning Wave in 2008 and won at the competition in 2010. There were 136 competitors from around the world. The Wave’s efficiency was about 40% to 60% higher than the 2nd and 3rd place winners in the competition.

During the contest, cars were taken to the Chrysler proving grounds for an evaluation process. The numbers achieved by the Wave’s Aerodynamics were numbers the engineers at Chrysler had never seen before.

Salim had designed that vehicle while in Dubai and had it sketched out for his graphics person in Vancouver. After the initial designs were completed, he handed the project over to his engineers who then manufactured the Wave from the ground up.

The concept used for the aerodynamics of the car was based on the wings of an airplane, creating a lift in the back. As you can see in the pictures, this lift reduced the drag on the vehicle while going down the highway.

Salim won the $2,500,000 prize.
